For what its worth, mine is longer than average (6.75 inches erect) and my index finger is shorter than my ring finger.  This is consistent with their results.

It's valid, but not in the way the headline implies.

The valid science is that the ratio of length of the 2nd and 4th fingers is correlated to penis size.

The problem with the headline is two-fold:

1) You can't just look at a hand and "eyeball" the relative length of the index and ring fingers. Each finger needs to be individually measured from the first joint to the tip. That is because the first joints of these fingers usually do not line up.

2) Also, correlation is about probability, not determination. The probability is greater that a man with a longer ring finger has a longer dick, but there's no guarantee. There are also a lot of other factors (such as genetics) that affect penis length. It's like when you roll the dice, the probability is higher that you won't get doubles. But, you'll still get doubles from time to time!

Here is a more detailed article explaining the science this phenomena, and also the various physical and personal traits that are arguably more important than penis length:

...and in any case, for some ladies it might be girth they'd be looking for, more than a skinny length.
Is there an indicator for thickness that might be visible over a cocktail or three I wonder :-)

First: sorry about my english. i hope you can understand my thoughts i am losing my "science english" over time.

Second: if you see this from a serious scientific perspective this study is ridiculous.

Test subjects: 144, come on! You dont try to make an correlation with 144 test subjects like this and then make a statement that can be taken serious.
With 144 test subjects i can correlate (i hope that is the correct verb in english) pretty much anything,
depending on the statistical procedure. If they tested 5000 people i would rethink about this again.

And as Mani said, if A (big fingerlength) leads to B (big Penis-Size), that doesnt mean B leads to A. Therefore the man with the biggest penis could have the smallest biggest ringfiger and the smallest indexfinger. So yeah it is (if it then really is the case) just a probability.
And as far as i can see they just describe it as linear (the more A the more B). There could be certain variation possibilities i may think of.

Oh and the badest thing is, the didnt measured it while erected... Wink

Indeed, 2D:4D ratio correlates with many physiological, psychological, cognitive and sexual traits in both sexes.

FWIW, I just measured my ratio for the first time, and it is .959, above the male mean of .951 in a recent study (the female mean was .968) and I have an average length erect penis.
